Students: How to
start right. Making money of of your first website
Copyright 2003 by Kevin Bidwell All-In-One-Business.com
Almost everyone who succeeds online does so with their SECOND
site, not their first. Most people start out with a site, make a
ton of mistakes, learn by doing and-once they have figured out the
ropes-get it right the SECOND time.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
If you are starting out today here are some keys to getting it
right the first time:
1. Pretend you don't know ANYTHING.
This is hard for some of us. We like to make our own path, create
our own luck, succeed on our own terms. Of course, this can really
get you in trouble.
Go in with an attitude of "I don't know what I am doing" then find
someone to help answer your questions.
I have put up a list of the people I trust when I need my
questions answered here:

2. Choose an UNDERSERVED MARKET NICHE
This seems to be the toughest for most beginners: Finding a niche
market that isn't already flooded with competition. They're out
there. Here are some tools that can help you find them:

3. Treat pennies as if they're DIAMONDS
No matter how much money you have to start your business, don't
throw it around. Don't buy advertising until you've fully checked
it out, don't pay for a 1 month service when 1 week will do, don't
waste money on site "bells and whistles" that won't make you
money.
What should you spend money on?
* A functional website * Professional copywriting * PROVEN
advertising * Personal Guidance
4. Plan to WORK at Your Business
Almost everyone has the same dream: Raking in the profits from a
website requiring little or no work.
This is a great goal and it is achievable-but plan to put in a TON
of work to get there. If you want to be making $5K/mo a year from
now, plan to work 20 hours per week to get there. If you do things
right you can take it easy after you get there.
5. Don't give up.
This is the most important key. No matter what, don't give in to
the temptation to quit.
Will these five keys make you the next Bill Gates? Probably not,
but they may make you the next Jeff Anderson. Haven't heard of
him? He's one of my students who just launched his first site-and
made over $600 his first week.
